I was born on the day that The Beatles recorded I’m Only Sleeping. Childhood spent in Warwickshire, England. I’ve been a working musician (guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele and keys) since my late teens. It’s been a colourful journey to date; having written, recorded and performed with folks as disparate as Wreckless Eric, Aufgehoben and Paul McCartney. During the 90’s I started The Mockin’ Bird Recording Company – an analogue recording facility. The studio was originally in Brighton (UK) and attracted a number of folks who had populated the record collection of my youth and a slew of eager young bands and songwriters, some of whom have gone on to commerical and/or critical success. I sold the original studio and contents (to Marc Beatty of The Brakes and The Tenderfoot notoriety) and left England at the end of the year 2000.
After wandering around India for much of 2001, I relocated to the US. Initially in Los Angeles, moving on to NYC for a few years, before settling in Chapel Hill, NC in 2006.
A jobbing musician for the bulk of my career, I have released a couple of solo albums along the way and written music for TV, theatre and film. These days I mostly divide my time between teaching music and working in my recording studio. And for those willing to cross my palm with silver, I’m available for sessions, shows and tours .
