Tonight [6/27/2010] at Fuse, Chapel Hill.

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

This Sunday 6/27, BOAT BURNING’s Andras Fekete and special guest guitarist Tim Carless will present the Chapel Hill debut of “Hard Ambiance: Music for guitar and analog tape” at FUSE.

Come in out of the heat, kick back, and chill for two sets, starting 10:00pm.

Using ethereal guitars, subtle not-unpleasant damage and live tape manipulations, the goal is to create a uniquely stimulating aural / emotional backdrop for an evening at FUSE.

Jerry Kee & Duck Kee Studios – TNF on WXYC

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

One pillar of the music scene that encompasses Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill in North Carolina is Jerry Kee; one of the gentlest gentlemen I have met. Jerry is the owner of Duck Kee Studios in Mebane, NC. Jerry and Duck Kee Studios have provided a fertile environment for a host of bands and artists over the last decade or so, including: Kingsbury Manx, Portastatic, Regina Hexaphone, Superchunk to name but a few.

This Thursday evening [5/20/10], between 9pm & midnight EDT, I shall be hosting the Thursday Night Feature on WXYC [89.3FM or pick up a stream from www.wxyc.org] and Jerry Kee will be joining me in the studio as we trawl through the archives of Duck Kee Studios and talk about the bands and music that have graced its four walls.

Tim Sparks – Show and Workshop at Nightlight, Chapel Hill, NC.

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Tim Sparks, one of America’s finest guitarists working and recording today, is coming to Chapel Hill in April to play a show at the Nightlight. Regular listeners to WXYC will probably know his album Little Princess that was playlisted on WXYC last year. It’s a wonderful recording, featuring Tim, Greg Cohen and Cyro Baptista.

Tim’s playing on April 14th at the Nightlight on Rosemary Street, Chapel Hill. Earlier in the evening he’s going to be running a guitar workshop. The workshop will look at music from Brazil, Middle Eastern/Klezmer modes and Tim’s unique approach to the guitar. It costs just $30 for approaching two hours of interesting, informative and entertaining tuition. For more details about the workshop, you can email Tim directly here.

Here’s a link to his website Tim Sparks
